How you can help the Daisy Appeal
Leave a lasting gift - remember us in your will
How your legacy can help?
Through our research programmes at the Hull & East Yorkshire Medical Research Centre we can help to increase survival rates and naturally boost future survival rates from life-threatening diseases. Our clinical trials facility means that patients living locally will be exposed to newly developed drugs and treatments at a far earlier time than they would otherwise have been. By remembering us in your will you will be help sustain our work, ensuring that these facilities continue to be available and helping to preserve and extend lives well into the future.
How to leave a legacy...
If you would like someone from the Daisy Appeal to meet with you informally to discuss your bequest we will be pleased to arrange this. To make an appointment, please contact the Daisy Appeal on Tel: Tel: 01482 465348 / 461909 or email: j.kitson@hull.ac.uk. Following this we would strongly recommend that you use a solicitor to have your Will professionally prepared.
You may of course approach any solicitor that you wish but we would like to draw your attention to the following offer from Andrew Jackson Solicitors. Andrew Jackson Solicitors have long supported the Daisy Appeal (Hull & East Yorkshire Medical Research Centre) and are generously offering to advise you and write your will at a specially reduced rate - 20% less than their usual fee.
Should you wish to take up this offer, please visit their website: Andrew Jackson Solicitors, or contact Kevin Webster on Tel: 01482 325242.
Types of legacy
Naturally you will want to ensure that your family and friends are remembered and that your wishes are carried out in the event of your death. There are different types of bequests that can be made and these are:
- A Residuary bequest
This would consist of the remainder of your estate after all other bequests had been made. - A Pecuniary bequest
This would be a specific amount of money. It should be noted that the value of this in real terms will decrease over the years. - A Specific Bequest
This would be a particular item left to a beneficiary (relative, friend or charity)... i.e. Property, jewellery etc. - A Contingent bequest
This would be a gift dependent upon the survival of other beneficiaries... i.e. if one or more beneficiaries die before yourself then their bequest will pass to the charity. - A Reversionary Bequest
Similar to the above... the gift would be left to a beneficiary to use during their lifetime and, after their death, it would pass to the charity.
